From the Principal – November 2017

     From the Principal

Hello Wolf Pack!

It has been a busy fall and it is hard to believe that there are only a few weeks left in this semester!  We have a few important events coming up this month.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Tuesday, November 7th from 4:30-7:30 pm.  Teachers are currently contacting parents to set up meeting times in 15 minute slots.  If you want to speak with a particular teacher, please contact him/her directly to secure a time.  You can find the teachers’ emails on the Ranchview website at or feel free to call the main office at 972-968-5000.  That evening the Perot Tech Truck will have hands on activities for free from 5:00 – 7:00 pm in the library.  These activities are great for people of all ages!  Siblings are welcome as well.

I’d also encourage all of our families to attend Literacy Night on Monday, November 13th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at RL Turner High School.  Reading is essential to everything we do as learners and this is a fun opportunity for the whole family to share the importance of reading.

If you’ve ever wondered how to better protect your student with on-line resources, the RHS Counselors can help.  On Tuesday, November 14th, there will be a West-Side Community Parent Session on Child and Internet Safety in the RHS Auditorium from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.  Child care is available, but requires a reservation at or 972-968-5034.

There will be no school the week of November 20th – 24th for staff development and our Thanksgiving school holiday.  I hope you enjoy the time with your family.

End of Course (EOC) Re-Testing will be the week of December 4th.  English 1 will be December 4th, Biology and US History will be December 5th, English 2 will be December 6th, and Algebra will be December 7th.  All make up testing will be on December 8th.  Teachers are working with student who will re-test in class as well as during designated tutorials this month.  Biology tutorials are after school on Wednesdays, English 1, English 2, US History, and Algebra tutorials are during Advisory Periods on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Students not taking a re-test will be following their regular schedule during those testing days.

Finally, Final Exams for the first semester will be December 19th – 22nd.  Knowing these dates in advance can help your student budget his/her time as they complete projects and study for exams.

Thank you for supporting your student and for supporting Ranchview High School!
