From the Principal – March 2017

      From the Principal

Hello Wolf Pack!

March is here and spring is right around the corner!  In March we start many of the state assessments that help us determine how our students are progressing each year.  Students must successfully reach the Satisfactory Level on each of the following End of Course Assessments before graduating from high school:

  • English 1
  • English 2
  • Algebra
  • Biology
  • US History

The first assessments for this year are English 1 which will be on Tuesday, March 28th and English 2 which will be on Thursday, March 30th.  The other three tests will be the week of May 1st.  Students and teachers have been working hard all year preparing for these assessments and additional tutoring is taking place during our Advisory periods.  I know our students will be prepared and will perform well.

Additionally, counselors are continuing to meet with students as they select their courses for next year.  They have already met with all grade levels.  Parents, feel free to contact the counselors with any questions that you have regarding course registration for next year.  The counselors are also leading a parent information session on Tuesday, March 7th at 7:30 am and 6:00 pm in the Library Annex on Community College Options.  This is a great session for anyone, especially Senior families, who are unsure of their plans for next year.  The information is the same at both sessions, so attend the one that works with your schedule.

I’d like to congratulate our Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team for their Playoffs run this year!  Their hard work and dedication represent Ranchview well.  We also appreciate all the fans who traveled to support our team!  It was great to have a full set of bleachers cheering on the girls. Also, congratulations to the RHS Choir and Band students who performed at UIL Solo and Ensemble Contests this year.  RHS has 37 students headed to the State Solo and Ensemble Competition in May!  The Orchestra, Choir, Band, and One Act Play all go to UIL Contest later in March.  We wish all groups good luck!

Don’t forget that there will be NO SCHOOL the week of March 13th – 17th for Spring Break.  I hope you have some rest and relaxation with your family and friends!

Thank you for supporting your student and for supporting Ranchview High School!

GO Wolves!
